We've finished installing and testing our 3D printer, which seems like a great addition to our custom tools. We're already well accustomed to high volume end mill jobs, but milling away unwanted bits of the material is not always the best way to shape them. Building some of the parts from fused plastic filament is a cheap and flexible manufacturing method, not only for prototyping, but even for small series production.
